What is an IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation Treatment?

Kristen invites you to begin your journey to eliminate your skin discoloration and uneven skin tone with her new innovative Venus Versa Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system.  The photofacial treatments are powered by Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology to safely and effectively fade common signs of premature aging; including sun spots, discoloration, visible veins, and fine lines and wrinkles.  IPL may be used for these changes on the hands, neck and chest as well. It is safe, non-invasive and is tailored to the individual client’s skin.  Since Venus Versa is FDA approved, the IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation is a safe and effective way to restore a more youthful aesthetic eliminating surgery and Botox.  Although results will be seen after one treatment, IPL treatments are commonly done in a series of 3-4 treatments, a treatment 3-4 weeks apart.   Most clients complete a series of monthly treatments and then return for a maintenance treatment once or twice a year.  Features include:

  • Real-time cooling system for more comfortable treatments

  • No downtime

  • Quick treatment sessions last only 15-20 minutes

How does the Venus Versa IPL work?

PHOTOFACIAL

Venus Versa™ photofacial treatments work to reduce visible signs of premature aging, such as sun damage, brown spots, visible veins, discoloration, and fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment is powered by Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) with SmartPulse™ technology that delivers precise light through several layers of skin. This generates heat when absorbed by the targeted tissue, which corrects imperfections in the skin without damaging any of the surrounding tissue. A real-time cooling system works to keep your skin protected throughout treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What areas can be treated with IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation?

An IPL treatment can be used on almost any sun damaged area of the skin. The most commonly treated areas include the face, neck, chest and hands.

How many treatments will I need?

Generally we recommend 3-4 IPL Photofacial treatments (each 3 weeks apart) depending on the amount of damage to the skin for the most optimal results. After the initial series, maintenance sessions are encouraged. Most of the damage to our skin occurred early on in life.  What brings it to the surface is more sun exposure.

Who should not get an IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation treatment?

It is not safe for excessively tanned skin, recently sun-tanned skin or for anyone who may receive excess sun exposure in the immediate weeks following treatment. This treatment is not advisable for women who are pregnant or breast feeding, anyone with metal implants such as pacemakers, current or history of cancer, poorly controlled endocrine autoimmune disorders, diseases that may be stimulated by light such as epilepsy, those with a history of keloids, fragile skin, abnormal wound healing response, anyone taking Accutane, any active condition in treatment area such as eczema, psoriasis or rash, and those who use medication, herbs, supplements and vitamins know to induce photosensitivity. For individuals who get fever blister attacks (herpes simplex), an anti-herpes medication should be taken prior to treatment.

What can I expect during an IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation treatment?

Each IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation treatment lasts 15-30 minutes. We will remove all make-up, sun block and face creams. Men will be asked to shave on the day of treatment, prior to their arrival. Eye shields will be applied to protect the eyes. A cool soothing gel will be applied on the skin prior to treatment, which will help reduce any discomfort. After the procedure, you will be given any additional post-treatment instructions.

What can I expect after an IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation treatment?

The IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation treatment requires little to no downtime. You may resume normal activities immediately following the treatment including applying fresh makeup.  Following treatment, you may experience redness similar to a mild sunburn, which should subside after 24 hours. For the first 48 hours, avoid anything that creates heat - hot baths, saunas, massages, and exercise. Avoid direct sun exposure, immediately after treatment for 7-10 days. Wear adequate sun protection. Pigment present in the treated area will usually darken. This is referred to as “microcrusting”. Do not pick or scratch these areas. They will naturally flake off in 3-14 days depending on the area of the body treated. We will provide you with complete take home instructions about your post treatment care.
