Dual Light Acne Treatment

Dual light acne technology treats both the underlying cause and the visible symptoms of acne using a combo blue & red light while real-time cooling ensures a comfortable treatment.  Blue light destroys acne bacteria and red light reduces inflammation.  For the most optimal results, six to eight treatments, one to two times per week is recommended.  Requires sun restriction.

The Acne Problem

Contrary to what a lot of people think, acne is not limited to just adolescence. In fact, many people struggle with acne on the face and body well into their adult life—it can even start as an adult, despite never having dealt with it as a teenager. Unfortunately, acne continues to be one of the most common skin care problems doctors see. Acne is caused by overactive sebaceous glands that produce too much oil and clog pores. Combined with the presence of P. acne bacteria, this is what leads to the blackheads, whiteheads, and inflammation associated with acne. Rather than rely on topical over-the-counter options, Venus Versa™ acne treatments offer a more substantial, long-term solution to improve the look of acne-prone skin so you don’t have to hide anymore.

Blue & Red Light Acne Therapy Treatment

Through Venus Versa, Kristen's innovative technology offers you the Blue and Red Acne Light Therapy. It is an effective solution for active acne. It addresses acne by treating both the underlying cause, as well as the visible symptoms associated with acne. This treatment uses intense pulse light technology (IPL), specifically a combination of blue and red light delivered simultaneously. The blue light kills the bacteria that causes acne breakouts and the red light reduces acne-related inflammation.

How Does it Work?

The blue light targets the acne-causing bacteria in the oil glands. This bacteria contain a certain type of pigment that, when activated by the blue light, destroy the bacteria from the inside out. By eliminating this underlying cause of acne, the skin is better able to recover and blemishes will begin to disappear. At the same time, the red light emitted from the applicator works to reduce the inflammation of existing acne and promote faster healing. Because red light can penetrate farther into the layers of skin, it’s better able to treat deeper pores and can help with reducing the production of acne-causing sebum. Research has shown that when blue and red light are administered together, the results are much better than with just blue light alone.

How will I feel after my treatment?
Your skin can feel warm, like a sunburn, with some redness.  But other than that, you really shouldn't feel any different if you follow instructions for before and after your treatment.
How long will the results last and are they permanent?
It really depends on the severity of your skin and how well you take care of your skin after your treatment. A touch-up session twice a month, then monthly is recommended. Once the acne starts clearing up, you can then increase the time between maintenance treatments depending on how your skin responds to the treatment.
Is there any downtime?
There is minimal to no downtime. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment.
Do I need to do anything after my treatment?
Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment, and wear sunscreen (at least SPF 30). You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment. You can go back to gentle washing and using gentle, non-irritating products immediately afterward.
I have darker skin- can I still get the treatment done?
The Blue and Red Acne Light Therapy treatment works best for light to medium skin tones. The treatment may work on darker skin, but there is a higher risk of discoloration because darker skin has more pigment in it. It's best to consult with Kristen to see if you'd be a good fit.
How many treatments will I need to see results?
Although you will see progressive results after each treatment, most clients receive a total of 7-8 treatments for the most optimal results.
How often/far apart should the treatments be?
Treatments are usually done twice a week for a month. Treatments should be scheduled 3-4 days apart.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for the treatment?
Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You should also avoid tanning. You may be advised to shave the area before your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.
How long does a treatment session last?
One session usually lasts 15-20 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
What does the treatment feel like?
The treatment feels like a light snap with an elastic band against your skin, or like if someone lightly flicked you.
